A common mistake that a lot of people make when watching the Die Hard DVD Action Disc is that the “real hostages” are Bruce Wilson’s children since they are emotionally trapped as an outcome of their parents’ recent separation.  Those people are wrong though.  The hostages are the people in the hotel who Bruce Wilson is trying to save.  It’s pretty obvious because there are guys with machine guns making sure they don’t leave.  Can’t say the same for the kids though.
